Paid Internship Mortgage Loan Assistant-Remote

As a Mortgage Loan Assistant, you will use your financial or accounting skills to help guide mortgage loans from application to closing. You will receive hands-on experience working with loan files with professional guidance from an 23-year mortgage veteran loan officer. The skills learned will translate to multiple careers after schooling and will help you have an upper hand in real estate transactions for the rest of your life. This internship is paid at $15.00/hour 20 hours/week or could end up with 2 people at 10-12 hours/week. This will be a remote position after training ends. All training will be done in person for the first 1-2 months, depending on number of hours worked and how quickly you grasp the training.

This is not your normal internship, you will not be getting or making coffee. You will be learning real skills and the training is substantial so for this reason we are looking for freshmen and sophomore students who can learn and grow with the team for a few years.

One of our former interns is still with the team 5 years later and is now in a career role.

You will learn:

  • Learn the fundamentals of Real Estate Business
  • Learn the fundamentals of Mortgage Lending
  • How to Analyze a Credit Report
  • How to Analyze & Calculate Income
  • Including- identifying different income types
  • Business practices that limit mistakes
  • Loan underwriting criteria
  • The Complete loan process for purchasing & refinancing
  • The factors that affect the rate & costs of a mortgage
  • The types of home loans
  • The types of mortgage insurance
  • How to analyze and compare different home loan options
  • How to read a tax return, including Schedule E & Schedule C

Criteria:

  • Finance or Accounting Major
  • Detail orientated
  • Current Freshman & Sophomore students
  • Computer Skills -Adobe, Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to communicate directly with customers
  • You must have a laptop that is capable of running Windows Programs (note Mac with Parallels is OK)
  • Good basic math skills
  • Willing to work 12-20 hours/week during 9-5 work hours
  • Must pass a criminal background check

The Process

  • The start date will be sometime in March, pending a background check and your school schedule.
